Firmware Engineer

About Nunam:

Nunam is set on a journey to research and build solutions for Electric Vehicles (EVs) to extend their battery’s life. At the end of life of these EV batteries we are developing the technology to repurpose them for a second life application. We build energy storage solutions(ESS) with used batteries and battery data analytics products using state of the art techniques from battery modelling, data science, machine learning and embedded hardware. What you would be responsible for:

  1. Scaling up of a IoT firmware stack that would run on 10,000+ devices in various states of deployment and firmware version
  2. Architect and develop the battery management framework in collaboration with battery modelling team for constrained microcontrollers
  3. Developing automated test suites for manufacturing
  4. Using continuous integration to automate builds and identify issues quickly
  5. Building the testing framework for working with test-driven development (TDD)
  6. Working with Zephyr OS for building a scalable and modular code base for multiple products
  7. Low power optimizations
  8. Deploying Machine Learning (ML) models for microcontrollers
  9. Having fun with the team while having a positive impact on the world :)

Technical skills you can offer:

  1. Experience in developing firmware for at least one product lifecycle
  2. Experience with project planning with leadership skills in a team of developers
  3. Good experience working with real-time operating systems (RTOS)
  4. Strong English communication skills. We pride ourselves on our documentation, so articulating your work for others and your future self is important
  5. Familiarity of IoT device management cloud software
  6. Knowledge of state machines and their implementation
  7. Familiarity with basic electronics concepts, the ability to read schematics and use logic analysers and oscilloscopes.
  8. Experience with git and continuous integration workflow

Battery Engineer Internship

About Us:

Who are we looking for? 

The ideal candidate will be responsible for handling Nunam's battery assessment operations and handling multiple types of Li-ion batteries along with high power laboratory equipment. Nunam has developed a custom validation framework to evaluate EV cells and battery packs. Your goal would be to understand frameworks & processes and optimize further to produce reliable and accurate experimental results. The role is critical to developing insights into batteries and producing high quality and safe battery packs.  

Job location: Electronic City, Bengaluru 


Responsibilities

You will be exposed to multiple roles and learn fundamentals on cell chemistries, battery pack development principles, testing and validation frameworks while working on- 

  1. Battery characterization 
  2. Characterize the batteries with various test protocols and create test protocols for diverse types of cells and packs 
  3. Develop test jigs as per the cell/pack’s form factor for performance analysis
  4. Do repetitive work for a fixed duration until completed 
  5. Work on Excel/Sheets for recording battery and test data
  6. Actively participate in meeting deliverables to internal teams. Work with cell and data team to procure, analyze and archive relevant cell data and share with various functional teams 
  7. New Product Development 
  8. Designing and prototyping battery pack system for the ESS application 
  9. Process Optimization and Validation 
  10. Verify prototype quality, suggest improvements 
  11. Contribute significantly in the lab to carry out routine battery pack manufacturing technology
  12. Maintain a zero-incident laboratory track record 

Skills

  1. Bachelor's in electrical engineering or similar field. 
  2. Strong problem solving, technical, math and science skills. 
  3. Hands-on experience with any electrical or electronic circuitry 
  4. Willingness to learn more about batteries and take up challenging tasks 
  5. Good English communication and reading skills; ability to convey ideas clearly to cross-sectional teams
  6. Quick focused learner, able to adapt and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
